For over 7 decades, on the anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's birthday, a mysterious figure, known as the Poe "Toaster" laid 3 red roses and an unfinished flask of cognac on the writer's grave. Nevermore pays tribute to this legend and Poe's poem "The Raven", noted for its supernatural atmosphere. The perfumer, Anne-Sophie Behaghel, created a supernatural rose to cast a spell over those that smell it. Like Poe, she wanted to create something that would appeal to both critical and popular tastes. This rose-centric scent manages to be both bright and fresh with sparkling aldehydes in the top notes, at the same time being dark and bewitching with a saffron, cedar and patchouli base. When smelling this intoxicating aroma, one can envision the deep wine-colored rose - thorns and all! How she did it remains yet another mystery.
